Dangerous Brainwashing

October 29th, 2009

Personally I’ve never been a big fan of organised religion myself, but up until now I’ve very much been of the view of ‘each to their own’, and quietly respectful of other people’s viewpoints and beliefs. Religion and spirituality is one of those topics that no-one can ever really have all the answers to. No-one really knows the absolute truth for sure. As a friend of mine once said, “you find out everything when you die, but it’s not worth dying just to find out.”

Are You Feeling Lucky?

October 8th, 2009

Do you know people that just seem to be born lucky?  You know the sort I mean.  They always seem happy and positive and quite effortlessly good things just seem to happen to them.  No matter what curve balls get thrown at them, they always keep their smile on, nothing seems to phase them and somehow things always seem to turn out well for them.  Well you can be one of these people too.  These people actually create their luck and here is a “how-to guide” on how you too can be lucky:

I’m old enough to have seen and loved the first Fame movie, so I’d have to say I was disappointed with the modern day version. I was expecting a similar storyline to the first one – but if there was a storyline, then I missed it. Very average to say the least. I wouldn’t rush out to see it on the big screen.

What a wonderful holiday surprise this turned out to be. Great family entertainment for all ages. A delightful, funny, inspiring, fantasy/adventure story. Not so fantasy as to be too far- fetched. Good wholesome family fun.

Being the mother of a six year old girl, means that this dvd has had serious airplay at our house over the last few months. If I had a dollar for every time I heard Money, Money, Money I too would be a rich woman! Seriously though, I’d have to admit to being a closet Abba fan, and there is a good selection of eye candy too. I’m a Pierce Brosnan fan, but there’s also Colin Firth and a very cute Stellan Skarsgard if you prefer the younger look. A great way to spend some quality mother-daughter time, no matter what age you are. Be sure to crank the volume and boogie around the living room to get maximum enjoyment.

Well I guess you’d have to call this a chick’s flick, but I think most guys I know could happily sit through this and find it funny. It’s a great role reversal story of a guy going through a relationship breakup when he really thought the girl was “the one”. I laughed out loud several times and really enjoyed it. Nothing too deep or philosophical but great, light entertainment.
